Keep Visiting The Market

I think free people everywhere should unite to celebrate the heroism of UK soldiers James Brown and David Kirkness and the two Afghan soldiers who sacrificed themselves on Tuesday, to prevent Taliban terrorists killing scores of innocent Afghans at a market.

The easiest thing for the martyrs to do, would have been to let the militants through the checkpoint, go into the market and murder as many Afghans as they could. That would have also been the safest option.

Instead, they did the right thing. They stood their ground. They defended the right of Afghans to go to the market. It is a right people in more peaceful places take for granted. Though it resulted in the martyrs losing their lives, it also resulted in the Afghans who went to the market going home alive. They will live to go to the market again.

The soldiers sacrificed themselves because they believe that people should be able to go to the local market. They don’t agree with the Taliban that people who go to markets should be blown apart. I am glad the coalition has such brave soldiers fighting for freedom in Afghanistan. If our armies are full of brave men like the martyrs who died protecting Afghans on Tuesday, or the heroes who tried to rescue the soldiers while under fire, we have nothing to fear but fear itself.
